Description
(SOLD) Original antique powder horn pictured in the book, “Augusta County, Virginia’s Frontier,” and engraved with Native American motifs. 15 inches long. A beautiful powder horn. Ex collections of Gordon Barlow and Charlie Kaufmann. I’m not aware of any provenance that this was indeed a Native American used powder horn, but it’s consistent with others known to have been native-used, and utilizes a similar design of patterns and motifs. Â It also appears that some of the engraving shows hemp plants, which were popular crops on the 18th century frontier and used for making many different products at the time.
