Native American Powder Horn (SOLD)

Description

(SOLD) Original antique powder horn pictured in the book, “Augusta County, Virginia’s Frontier,” and engraved with Native American motifs. 15 inches long. A beautiful powder horn. Ex collections of Gordon Barlow and Charlie Kaufmann. I’m not aware of any provenance that this was indeed a Native American used powder horn, but it’s consistent with others known to have been native-used, and utilizes a similar design of patterns and motifs.  It also appears that some of the engraving shows hemp plants, which were popular crops on the 18th century frontier and used for making many different products at the time.
