Description
This is a circa 1860s-1870s, Civil War era to Wild West era, bowie knife made by, and stamped, A. Paterson Forthworks, Sheffield. This was one of the Sheffield knifemakers of the 19th century, making bowie knives to import to the United States. It has an OAL of about 9″ and a blade length of about 5″. This definitely saw some use. I’m not sure if the handle near the tang was always like that, or if some sort of bolster or inlay is missing. It has what appears to be the original leather sheath, which is in great condition.
