18th Century Blacksmith Made Key found at Willowbrook


This is a giant old blacksmith forged skeleton key, found in the yard at Willowbrook / Byrnside’s Fort, by Bill Burns, of Union, WV.  It was restored using electrolysis, and later, we even found the door it likely was paired with.

The door was apparently repurposed to fit on the old smokehouse.  Prior to that, it was likely in use at Byrnside’s Fort, during the fort occupation.
